Upper Elementary: Grades 3-5

Finding Their Voice

Students gain confidence in applying their foundational knowledge to the world around them, as they begin to carve their own path; forming their own voice through:

Intensive writing – Students develop the skills necessary to write for different tasks, purposes, and audiences.
Verbal articulation – Our students learn to make connections to themselves, their families, and their classrooms.
Mathematical problem-solving – Students develop new skills, but also learn to solve new and different problems, and articulate their methods in writing and verbally, to deepen their understanding.
Build on previous studies – As in the Lower Elementary grades, studies are supplemented by time spent in Library, Phys Ed, Religion, Spanish, and STREAM coursework.
Introspection & worldviews – In all areas, students are encouraged to use their knowledge to question and critique the world around them

Extracurricular Activities

At the Upper Elementary level, we introduce extracurricular activities. They help our students apply the skills they learn in the classroom, and find their voice in the SSPP community. Extracurricular activities include:
